In Zambia, we started making handmade paper in 2017. A Japanese washi expert came to our Green Factory in Zambia to train our banana team. We are now able to make beautiful handmade banana paper!

Our handmade banana paper is using no chemicals during its entire process. We mix organic banana fiber with recycled paper from nearby schools and shops. When we use glue, we use a local wild plant that grow in this area. We have also successfully produced 100% banana fiber sheets. It’s also delivered to the UK factory in a collaboration with LUSH.  The fiber sheets are 100% organic x 100% fair trade.

Wild plants are used for paper making! Surrounded by nature and wildlife, Zambia’s banana paper factory uses only organic ingredients. The photo shows the “glue” required for handmade paper made locally. We use a plant that grows nearby.
