Over 1000 people in rural Zambia are now benefiting from the banana fiber and paper project indirectly (2022).<\/p>\n<p>One Planet Paper\u00ae is guided by 3 important criteria towards a Green Economy: (1) The so called <em>ECO CYCLE<\/em> (natures biocycle and technical cycle). (2) The <em>GLOBAL GOALS<\/em> (SDGs &#8211; Sustainable Development Goals) and (3) <em>FAIR TRADE<\/em>\u00a0 standards, based on the World Fair Trade Organizations 200+ points towards sustainability. This results in better traceability during the entire supply chain.\u00a0(who is making the fiber and paper? And how?)\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2410\" title=\"result\" src=\"https:\/\/oneplanetcafe.com\/paper\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/result.jpg\" alt=\"result\" width=\"1024\" height=\"859\" data-popupalt-original-title=\"null\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2016, we were certified by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), becoming one of the first Fair Trade verified paper producers in the world. <b><\/b><b><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/banana\/2017\/09\/13\/wfto-\u30d5\u30a7\u30a2\u30c8\u30ec\u30fc\u30c9\u8a8d\u8a3c\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Details here<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Some of the Social Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employment of over 20 women and men<\/li>\n<li>Employment of single mothers, HIV-positive and other socially vulnerable people<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating with 50+ small scale farmers (supporting organic banana cultivation)<\/li>\n<li>Support for school attendance of 200+ children<\/li>\n<li>In 2019, some of our team members&#8217; children entered university for the first time.<\/li>\n<li>Solar lamps supported to more than 1,000 people<\/li>\n<li>Malaria prevention education, and installation of preventive mosquito nets<\/li>\n<li>Provision of safe water &#8211; shared to nearby villages (approx. 500,000 liters per year)<\/li>\n<li>Inofficial &#8220;ambulance&#8221; service transporting people with emergency illnesses or injuries to the clinic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*In rural Africa, it is said that each peraons income supports 7-10 family members, relatives and neighbors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some of the Environmental Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Forest protection &#8211; Banana stem regenerates within 1 year vs. 10~30 years for ordinary trees.
